Jai Gurudev everyone,
Talking about a resolution for moving to a new year, how many New Years have passed? How many people have taken so many resolutions?
The mind is not material; it’s not something that you say yes, and you can take out something and put it aside and then transform it for next year. Everyone says ‘I will be a better person, I will stop drinking, I will stop smoking, I will stop eating meat, I will stop this and I will stop that…’ but do they really change? No they don’t. They change for one week but then the next group of friends come, or they do something on their computer, doing the same thing, and the same dirt arises inside that mind, and nothing has changed. Only the years have changed but the person has not changed. That’s why I say that feeding the mind with the right thing is very important, so start first with one verse of the Bhagavad Gita every day.
With the changes that you bring to yourself, you can enter a New Year mentally clear, filling your mind with the right things. Put some of the baggage, the old baggage that you’ve been carrying, throw it away, so that when you throw this baggage away, there is a new place for new things. Like that, when you enter this New Year, you enter with the change already inside of you. To enter the year, enter the year by remembering God, by chanting His Name. Often people forget about that, you know. For them in this world nowadays, when you look at New Year’s, it’s a party everywhere. We also have a party in the temple, but we are partying with the Name of God, singing and dancing with His Name. As we enter into the year, only the numbers change but mentally also you see that people have programmed themselves. You’ve programmed your mind that this is something new. So, entering the New Year with the Name of God will bring a big transformation inside of everyone.
So, I wish you all a happy New Year 2019, and may, by Giridhari’s Grace, He bring you all lots of luck, love, bhakti, and lots of faith inside of you so that you can be, yourself, an offering to the Feet of the Lord.
Jai Gurudev!
